Repair of concrete structures
Repair of concrete structures
01
Inspection:
○ Conduct a thorough visual inspection to identify visible damage.
○ Evaluating the type of concrete damage- Cracking., Spalling, Leaching or Erosion, Corrosion of Reinforcement, Honeycombing
02
Non-destructive testing (NDT) Techniques :
○ Ultrasonic pulse velocity testing- for detecting internal defects like cracks, voids, and delamination, as well as for evaluating the overall condition of concrete.
○ Rebound hammer test- to assess the quality and uniformity of concrete
○ Chloride Test- to evaluate the corrosion potential of the embedded reinforcement steel (rebar)
○ Half -cell potential test- to assess the risk of corrosion in reinforced concrete structures.
○ Carbonation Test- to assess the carbonation depth in concrete structures
03
Documentation:
○ Preparation of Report
○ Distress Mapping
○ Results and interpretations of test conducted.
○ Recommendations for repair- Epoxies and Polyurethanes, Polymer-modified Mortars, Resin-based Materials, Concrete Overlays.
○ Advanced Repair Techniques- Crack Injection, Cathodic Protection, Steel Plate Bonding, Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers (CFRP).
